Help Us help Kids
Dear Friends,
This past weekend in Washington, D.C., six children were seriously hurt or killed by unintentional injuries that could have been prevented.
- An infant suffered severe head and internal injuries during a car crash because he was riding on his father’s lap instead of in a car seat;
- A young teen had a stroke when his carotid artery was severed after a crash on an ATV
- Another young child suffered severe head injuries while riding an ATV without a helmet
- A father and son were killed when they were hit by a car while crossing the street
- Two toddlers fell out of windows while unsupervised and suffered severe internal injuries
These stories are a stark reminder of why our work at Safe Kids is so important. Our founder, Dr. Marty Eichelberger, a pediatric surgeon at Children’s National Medical Center, helped to treat these children and reminded me that, sadly, this was just a routine summer weekend in the trauma center.
Today’s financial challenges have impacted families nationwide. But with the right information and safety devices, most unintentional injuries can be prevented!
Safe Kids does not want parents to make the difficult choice between putting food on the table and purchasing safety devices to protect their loved ones. Now more than ever, your support of Safe Kids will arm us with needed resources so that we can continue our work to protect children.
Sincerely,
Mitch Stoller
